Posting again thanks to a Facebook meme (and highly appropriate, because this blog was born thanks to a Facebook meme.) 30 songs in 30 days. With links, which Radio Nixon has never had before. Except! We fall down at the very first hurdle, because OH NO!

1. Your favourite song

Yeah, right.  You don’t get me that easily, you fuckers.  So instead, here’s what I’m listening to *right now*, which is also helpfully (a) one of my favourite songs, and (b) an illustration for an earlier entry, albeit this is the rubbishly cut-down single version.

I hope this is SOMEONE’S very favourite song, anyway.

RIP Trish Keenan

Trish Keenan, lead singer of Broadcast, one of my favourite bands of all time, passed away today after a short illness.

I’m having trouble parsing this news at the moment – my thoughts go out to her friends and family.

I’ve never really been in this situation before and I’m finding it really hard not to trot out meaningless clichés. Instead, here’s what I said last time I wrote about them:

“I can’t remember a time when I didn’t love Broadcast – and I can’t remember a time I’ve ever fallen for a band so completely and so fast. Even today, every time I listen to The Noise Made By People, I’m reminded of the first time I heard it, and how overwhelmed I was, and it makes me need to sit down and catch my breath.”

Yeah, so I’m not being original, maybe thousands of people have posted it. But I just don’t feel like listening to anything else today.
